Tom Gordon
The song Peggy Gordon was sung by Tom Budge (the character: Sam Sloat) in the movie The Proposition?

The song Peggy Gordon was sung by Tom Budge (the character: Samuel Sloat) in the movie The Proposition. Tom Budge has a band, but they do not sing Peggy Gordon and it is not yet in any musical format, other than the movie, It is not on the soundtrack, although it SHOULD be! Does anyone know why the producer/ director left this song off of the soundtrack?

In most cases when a song is in a film but on the soundtrack is because they could not secure the exclusive rights to the song or it would be too expensive to do so.
Songs in movies cost money for use and if it is included on the soundtrack as well, then royalties have to be paid to owner of the song’s copyright. Even if the song is a cover version, it still cost money.
The Proposition was probably made on a very limited budget, therefore the song’s expense probably caused its absence on the soundtrack.
Good film though.

There are but two kinds of people in the world: Those captivated by Baz Luhrmann’s heady, postmodernist musical romp Moulin Rouge–and everybody else. Oddly, the film’s initial soundtrack release may have been the project’s most traditional element, marketing a slate of pop-star contributions that gave listeners a sometimes-skewed perspective on its true musical charms. This follow-up corrects muc…
